Live The Journey Day 7

Live The Journey Day 7

After a good night’s sleep in the car, I crawled out of the sleeping bag, laced up my boots, and headed out for a short morning stroll in Wasserburg.
The day before, I had noticed a coffee bar called @delianokaffeeroesterei that looked cozy, so I decided to stop by. It turned out they had their own roastery, and I got a quick look behind the scenes. It was inspiring and gave me some great ideas for the projects I’m working on back home. I ended up buying a bag of beans that I’m really looking forward to brewing once I’m back in Denmark.

Then it was back in the car and out on the highway, heading for a small campsite near Venice. I recently discovered the @roadsurfer app, which is a great resource for finding unique and offbeat campsites across Europe. It’s a good feeling to know exactly where I’m going.

About half an hour after leaving Wasserburg, the mountains of the Alps started to rise ahead of me. The drive through the mountains was breathtaking, and suddenly everything was in Italian. That moment of realizing I’d reached the next chapter of my journey hit me.
A few hours later, I was parked in front of a gate at the end of a gravel road in the middle of nowhere.

In the booking confirmation, I had been told to call someone named Irine when I arrived. She opened the gate remotely and informed me that I’d be the only person at the campsite that night.
The place, in my opinion, was a bit strange—two large artificial put-and-take lakes full of jumping fish, beavers, and water rats.

I cooked dinner on the gas stove, drank three beers I’d brought from Leipzig, and finished off with a cup of coffee.

Then it got dark.
Really dark.

As I lay there, far from home and completely alone, I started missing my wife and kids. It’s been a week since I left, and everything has been a bit intense.

Tomorrow, I’ll be meeting with @maglificiovenezia , one of Durable Journey’s partners—and I’m really looking forward to it.
