Live The Journey Day 3

Live The Journey Day 3

After a turbulent start to my adventure, it was nice to wake up after a good night’s sleep at the hotel.
I still haven’t quite gotten used to the idea that I’ll be away for another 30 days. After a lovely breakfast at the hotel, I spent a couple of hours working in my room.

Today, I was supposed to run a half marathon with my friends in Vienna. So, I decided to go for a long run in Leipzig instead. On this run, I got a much better sense of the city, where I could really feel the weight of history.

During World War II, Leipzig was one of the cities that was heavily bombed. Furthermore, Leipzig is an old East German city, and that is clearly reflected in its architecture.

Given the current state of the world, it’s hard for me to understand that we haven’t learned from the past. We can learn a lot from history and the older generation, and I hope we won’t let fascism and war rise again, but instead let the world be free for everyone. If that is to happen, we will have to give up a lot, but I hope we succeed.

I love Leipzig, but I’m starting to look forward to my continued adventure south to Italy, where, if all goes as planned, I’ll meet one of Durable Journey’s partners in Venice.
