Live The Journey Day 5
A hopeful day – will the parts arrive today?
I got up and headed out into the city, as the workshop couldn’t say whether the parts would show up today.
I started the morning with a walk through the streets and noticed the so-called Stolpersteine – small brass plaques embedded in the pavement in memory of people persecuted by the Nazis during World War II. Mostly Jews, but also other minorities like homosexuals, Roma, and political refugees.
Each plaque tells the story of who lived in the house, whether they managed to escape – and if so, where to – or if they were deported to a concentration camp. On these particular stones, I read that some died in Auschwitz, others fled to South America or England, and the rest to Palestine. It really puts the present day into perspective for me.
I was pulled out of this moment of reflection when my WhatsApp pinged – it was Thomas from Land Rover Leipzig. The parts had arrived, and he asked me to come by so they could install them in the car.
The car could still drive, just not very far, so I took a wild ride through Leipzig’s streets – weaving between cyclists, cars, trams, and trucks.
The installation went quickly and smoothly, and now I’m ready to hit the road again.
I’m sitting here writing, feeling a bit of excitement building – the next chapter leads me toward the Alps.
Leipzig has been lovely – a safe little pause. The Land Rover workshop, @thomasroske , and his team have been fantastic, and I’m deeply grateful for the help they’ve given me.
