The People Behind
Head of production
Klavs Breckling has lived and breathed the textile industry for over four decades, beginning his career at a time when true craftsmanship and personal integrity set the standard for quality. It’s through this long-standing dedication, rooted in tradition and skill, that he has helped shape Durable Journey from its very first steps.
As Head of Production, Klavs takes pride in working closely with our partners in Ikast, drawing on a rich heritage of textile expertise that the region is known for. He’s involved in every stage of the manufacturing process, building transparent and respectful relationships with suppliers around the world. This hands-on approach ensures that our products meet the highest standards, reflecting the honesty, care, and understanding that go into everything we create.
For Klavs, it’s never just about making garments—it’s about preserving the values of craftsmanship and responsibility, ensuring that our shared journey leads to products that stand the test of time, both in quality and conscience.
Head of creative
Mikkel Fangel Poulsen is the creative visionary behind the Durable Journey universe. As Creative Director, he brings a fresh perspective and thoughtful approach to the fashion industry—one that’s rooted in meaningful change rather than fleeting trends. His journey began in the summer of 2023 when he met Michael and Klavs, the founders of Durable Journey. It was a formative encounter that bridged Mikkel’s longstanding fascination with fashion and his deep-seated desire for authenticity and purpose in the products we wear.
Though he had previously engaged with the fashion world in a peripheral way, Mikkel’s true passion for it was ignited by Michael and Klavs’ commitment to regenerative agriculture as the starting point of their value chain. This choice aligned seamlessly with Mikkel’s own turning point, which began years ago when, as a young man, he watched the film 180° South. It profoundly influenced his understanding of why caring for our planet matters and how we should live in harmony with it.
Over the years, Mikkel’s personal life has mirrored his ideals. He moved away from the city, became a freelancer, took up beekeeping, grew his own food, and embraced the rhythms of a more natural life with his family. It is from this place of genuine experience and connection to nature that he draws his creative energy. Regenerative thinking, to Mikkel, is far more than a buzzword—it’s a philosophy he has lived and breathed. His commitment to this mindset ensures that it doesn’t become yet another marketing trick, but remains a guiding principle for real, lasting change.
Mikkel is certain that Durable Journey has a role to play in transforming the fashion industry, helping it evolve into one that values nature, people, and cultural integrity. With his creative direction, Durable Journey will help blaze a new trail—one that influences how we consume and how we understand our place in the world. It’s a path he hopes will inspire many others to join in creating a more thoughtful, regenerative future for us all.
Head of dreaming
I’ve always been drawn to the power of a good question. After more than a decade in the fashion industry, I found myself asking a new set of questions—bigger, deeper ones that nudged me beyond the familiar. Questions like: “Do we really need another clothing brand?” and “What if we could do things differently?”
For me, dreaming isn’t a passive activity; it’s a call to action. My journey began in the fields of creative thinking and sustainable problem-solving, inspired by thought-provoking documentaries and an unwavering belief in nature’s resilience. Rather than settling for “more of the same,” I envisioned an entirely new approach—one where regenerative agriculture, timeless design, and ethical production come together to redefine what fashion can be.
But dreaming alone doesn’t change the world. It’s the next step—the willingness to roll up your sleeves, take risks, and build something meaningful—that truly matters. With Durable Journey, I’ve channeled these dreams into tangible results, pushing the boundaries of what’s possible and inviting others to join me.
In the end, I am both a dreamer and a doer, guided by curiosity, responsibility, and the hope that we can all learn to tread more lightly on this earth. And it’s here, at the intersection of vision and action, that I find my purpose.
